Dalziel picked up 3 valuable hard fought points against a stuffy Doune side.
Both sides made heavy weather coping with a dry bumpy surface in the first half, players struggling to keep the ball under control and make passes.Doune Castle hit the crossbar midway through the first half with a long range free kick, and Derek Nichol went close for Dalziel with a shot after bursting clear of the visiting defence.
Dalziel broke the deadlock in the first minute of the second half when Graham Donaldson latched onto a through ball and steered it past the keeper. This then triggered a spell when Doune had much more possession and took the game to the home side with the Dalziel keeper Peter Gormley having to look lively on more than one occasion.
The Dalziel nerves were soothed with 20 minutes left when Craig McLeod smashed home a volley from the 18 yard line when the visitors had failed to clear a corner. The game was sealed with 5 minutes remaining when Derek Nichol lifted the ball over the Doune keeper for Dalziel's third of the game.
