Dalziel Progress in the Scottish Amateur Cup
|
Dalziel moved safely into the third round of this season's Scottish Amateur Cup with a comfortable win over their Lanarkshire league opponents.
The home side opened the scoring within 10 minutes, Willie McCulloch sweeping the ball home following a good passing move between Graham Donaldson and Derek Agnew. Graham Donaldson doubled the lead with a deflected shot, and Gerry Jamieson fired the ball home for the third goal on the stroke of half time.
Before Thistle could settle in the second half Derek Agnew swept past the defence rounded the keeper and knocked the ball home. Two further Graham Donaldson goals followed, one slotted home from close range, the other a fierce drive from the edge of the box that gave the keeper no chance. To Lanark's credit they kept looking for an opening, and they were rewarded with a consolation goal. Dalziel were not finished however, and a Ross Reynolds penalty and a good finish by Garry McClymont rounded off the scoring.
This week Dalziel are at home to Bannockburn in the Caledonian league, and the U21 team are at home to West Park Utd. There is an Old Crocks (Masters) game kicking off at 12.30 followed by a fund raising lunch at 2.00pm, details from Jimmy McDonald, Ian McMahon or Ian Slamin
