Hard Fought Draw
|
Dalziel are still looking for their first league win of the season, although they went extremely close on Saturday at Dalziel Park with only a last minute equaliser denying the Motherwell side a win.
The home side took the lead in 15 minutes when Milton failed to deal with a loose ball in the area and Garry McClymont fired a shot low into the bottom corner. Milton deservedly equalised before half time with a well taken header at the front post from a driven cross. Neither side was dominating the game at this point, and the early stages of the second half repeated this pattern. Dalziel did make, and squander a few chances, before David Jackson fired home a free kick from just outside the box to edge the home side in front again.
A combination of slack play was leading to desperate Dalziel defending, and despite shading the second half, failure to close out the game resulted in the visitors centre forward latching onto a loose ball to knock it into the net from close range, leaving Dalziel bitterly disappointed. Dalziel dominated much of their previous league game away to Glasgow Harp, but a goal early in the first half for the home side proved decisive.
Preparations are progressing for the Old Crocks game, and fund raising lunch on Saturday 6 October at Dalziel Park.
