Dalziel FP 4 -3 Bannockburn Ams
|
The opening exchanges in the second half were also fairly even, but once again it was Graham Donaldson who broke the deadlock, smartly converting a penalty after he had been fouled in the box. Dalziel, however did not hold the lead for long as within 5 minutes Bannockburn drew level with a headed goal from 6 yards. The home side did not let this upset their rhythm and moved ahead again just after the hour mark, Darren Ferguson was first to react to a clever corner from Paul Crumley and hit home Dalziel's third goal. To their credit Bannockburn kept pushing, but it was another Graham Donaldson strike that proved decisive, winning a chase with the visiting keeper and a defender to knock the ball home with the defence stranded.
It looked as if that would finally see off the challenge from Bannockburn, but with 2 minutes left the visiting centre forward was given too much space and he headed home a third goal for the visitors. This win moves Dalziel 2 points clear at the top of the table, with games running out for their rivals.
In midweek Dalziel travelled to Glasgow Harp for the first leg of the Douglas Smith League Cup semi final and came away with a 2 - 2 draw, goals from Mark Jamieson and Graham Donaldson have set the tie up for an exciting second leg.
