Dalziel stuttered to victory in this West of Scotland second round tie. After some early pressure from the visitors Dalziel took the lead midway through the first half when Craig McLeod gathered a pass and drove it past the keeper. Star equalised after a series of corners their centre back lashing the ball past Andy Sweeney from 12 yards.
A Scott Kyle header restored Dalziel's advantage right on half time. The lead was extended on the hour when Darren Ferguson strode forward and hit home from just inside the box. Rosehill, however continued to push and were rewarded when a cross was headed home from close range with 15 mins left. Graham Donaldson scored with 10 mins to go, and that should have finished the tie, but slackness in defence allowed the visitors to score and make for a nervous last few minutes.
Glasgow Uni 1 - 5 Dalziel FP (U21)
A sparkling first half performance from the young Dalziel side had this Golden Goals cup-tie in the bag at half time, with Dalziel 4 up. The second half display failed to produce the same standards, however Dalziel ran out comfortable winners. The scorers were Ryan Grant and Kevin Burns with two goals each and a single from Kevin Murphy.
